The GBC 2000 Case Study buildings have been the focus of the second comparative test of an international methodology for the assessment of environmental performance. 37 projects, including office buildings, multi-unit apartment buildings, schools and mixed-use, have been selected for their suitability to test the GBC 2000 assessment system . Details of each assessment process and its result were presented in the conference sessions, which represented a unique opportunity for all participants to become familiar with the concept and practise of environmental performance assessment, presented by some of the leading thinkers and practioners on the subject. Beyond their value in testing the system, the Case Study projects also provide outstanding examples of the sustainable approaches in design and construction that we need to adopt in the very near future.
