Plan B update and regional input form

iiSBE has completed a major upgrade of its discussion paper, titled Plan B: Global and Regional Strategies for the Built Environment under Climate Change. This document was originally released in 2008, and has been updated every year since that time. The PPT file can be downloaded here, but remember that it is really too large to digest in one sitting.

We also attach an input form if you have relevant information about adaptation or mitigation measures in your region. If you submit the completed form we can start to produce regional versions of the main document.

Files on Pandemics and Built Environment

Five files are available for downloading, including:

* A technical paper on Pandemics and the Built Environment, updated 17 September;

* A PPT presentation based on the above, dated 14 September, and

* A PPT file on Universities in the Covid era, presented to representatives of three major universities in Toronto on 27 August 2020

* A small Excel file to support the performance assessment of universities with respect to their Covid performance, updated 14 September 2020.

The deadline for Scientific or Industry abstracts is October 1, which will come sooner than you think... Ville can be reached at or by telephone at +358 50 366 8687.

Updated iiSBE Plan B position paper

We have issued a new version of the Plan B position paper on dealing with climate change impacts in the built environment, specifically adaptation and rapid actions to reduce GHG emissions. The PPT file contains additional information on expected climate change impacts.

Update on conditions for SBE17 Expressions of Interest

The four international co-promoters of the SBE conference series have agreed to relax a requirement related to the timing of the proposed SBE17 global conference. Instead of limiting the dates of the event to Q3 or Q4 of 2017, proposals for Q2 are now also welcomed.
